St. Josephs School

St. Joseph's Catholic School in Pewamo, MI proudly celebrates over 100 years (1913-2013) of providing a Christ-centered and faith-filled education. The school currently services students in grades 1st-8th with a curriculum that is aligned with the Diocese of Grand Rapids, the State of Michigan, and the Common Core.

St. Joseph School is accredited through the Michigan Association of Non-public Schools, with teachers being both certified highly qualified and as Catechists.

The school offers classes in Religion, Math, Science, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Computers, Music/Band, Art, and Physical Education.

Extracurricular activities include membership in the Michigan High School Association for Junior High Volleyball and Track/Field, Boys and Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, knitting, Spiritual Student Council, Sign Language, and various stewardship projects.

Pewamo Elementary School

Pewamo-Westphalia Elementary School was named a U.S. News and World Report Best Elementary School in the State of Michigan for 2022! This was the first ever rankings of elementary schools and we are thrilled to be recognized for the hard work of our staff, students and parents! The rankings were based on state-wide test scores, graduation and how well students are prepared for high school. P-W Elementary received a score of 95.1 out of 100, which put us #74 out of 1492 elementary schools in Michigan.

Academics
In 2020, Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools was ranked among the top 15 best high schools in the State of Michigan by U.S. News and World Report and 685th in the nation. In 2018-2019, we led Clinton County with the highest 11th grade M-STEP scores in science and social studies, we had the highest average SAT score (1084.8) in the county, and we ranked in the top 65 highest SAT scores in the state of Michigan (65th).

Arts
Our industrial arts program competes at MITES (Michigan Industrial and Technology Educational Society), submitting woodworking projects completed each year. Our marching and concert bands consistently earn accolades at competitions and festivals, and our art students have been successful in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, earning awards for photography and poetry.

Athletics - Recent State Championships
Boys' Basketball ('19), Boys' Cross Country ('16), Football ('21, '19, '17, '16), Girls' Basketball ('19), Girls' Track ('21, '19, '15, '13, '10), Competitive Cheer ('19, '10, '08), and Boys' Track ('08). Numerous State Runners-Up, Regional, District and League (CMAC) Titles in Football, Boys' & Girls' Track, Boys' & Girls' Cross Country, Boys' & Girls' Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, and Softball.
